Messaging Anywhere

Email is a vital communications tool for many businesses today – and is a major challenge for companies with a mobile workforce.

Being able to access email services and arrange meetings, from wherever they are, enables staff to respond efficiently.

Ramesys provides email to remote users using the following methods:

  • Mobile device access using mobile phones, a PDA or Blackberry
  • Web browser-based access
  • Outlook Client secured over the internet without the need for an IPSec VPN.

Messaging Anywhere can be provided as a separate service or as part of a wider access solution.

Information Anywhere

Information Anywhere provides users with the same access to information whether they are in the office or working remotely.

Ramesys provides Information Anywhere using the following methods:

  • Virtual Private Network (VPN)
  • Web-based portal.

Secure access can be provided to internal resources and documents over the internet by creating Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) which can be client IPSec based or client/ clientless SSL-based solutions. Both allow a user to access internal business information from remote locations. Since the introduction of broadband access, VPN-based solutions have provided a much improved user experience.

Microsoft’s SharePoint Server can take this a step further by facilitating information-sharing across intranet, extranet and the Web. This provides an integrated platform, instead of relying on separate, fragmented systems. The deployment of a portal solution requires careful planning, as it generally requires a shift in the way a business stores and shares its information, but the improved collaboration and search facilities alone can increase productivity.

Field Mobility Solutions

Ramesys can design, supply and install the underlying infrastructure to support handheld devices so that field-based staff can communicate in real time via the most appropriate wireless data network. Field mobility applications can be easily integrated with existing office-based systems.

Smart Client technology means that information is available even if the wireless networks are not – ensuring that work can continue unaffected even in areas of poor coverage. Information is presented to the user in line with the company’s quality process, health and safety and workflow requirements, ensuring consistent service delivery across the organisation. Paperwork and its associated (and expensive) administration can become a thing of the past.

Workforce Mobility Solutions

The aim of a workforce mobility solution is to go beyond ‘information anywhere’ and provide a familiar and consistent desktop experience regardless of the user’s location. This can also enable organisations to centralise applications and data in secure data centres, and thus reduce the cost of management and support.

Citrix Presentation Server is an end-to-end application delivery system that offers application virtualisation to enable the best access experience – for any user, with any device, working over any network. Presentation Server allows IT to deliver applications through on-demand access by users, while affording the flexibility to accommodate future application architectures.

WAN (wide area network) optimisation solutions provide high-performance application delivery to branch office users. They can accelerate application performance across a WAN by an average of 5x to 30x, and up to 300x at peak compression efficiency. With optimisers in the network, users in the branch office will experience LAN-like application performance over the WAN – which means less time waiting for slow applications and more time using the application. WAN optimisation can accelerate applications to branch offices of all sizes, data centres and mobile workers.
